WELCOME TO JAKE'S PATCH

"It takes a lot of work to get ready for raspberries.  Early spring of last year my Grandpa, Dad and I put tile in so the field would drain better.  Then we had to use this really cool tool that made our 6 inch beds and laid our irrigation equipment.  I had 6 friends come over and we planted 2000 raspberries by hand.  The raspberries had a rough first summer in my patch because it was so hot and dry, but they have done fairly well.  The rest of the summer I spent pulling weeds, tilling between the rows and finally on Labor Day weekend my friend and I planted the grass seed.  I hope you’ll come see my black raspberry patch.  I guess you can sample some of my mom’s new yellow and purple raspberries too."         -Jake Detwiler

"BERRY-FUN FIELD TRIP"

Starting this August thru September on Mondays, we will begin offering a true “field” trip to our farm.  We’ll start off with a 10-15 minute learning session all about raspberries with a tour of our farm.  The highlight of the “field” trip will be a walk to the raspberry patch and get a first hand look at where their food comes including a 30-40 minute berry picking to fill their ½ pint with farm fresh red raspberries to take home and share with their families.  Of course we expect everyone will taste a few as they travel down the raspberry rows.  To top off their raspberry adventure they will each receive a berry juice box.  The cost to everyone who picks is $5.

Trips start at 9:30 with the last field trip available at 3:30 lasting around an hour.  We would like a minimum of 10 and a max of 25 kids at a time.  Please email or call if you have any questions or you’d like to schedule your true "field" trip.

PAUL’S TRUCK

Most successful companies have a branded image that reminds you of their product when you see it.  A familiar example is the Weiner Mobile that just celebrated its 70th year representing Oscar Meyer Wieners.  Mitchell’s Farm has a similar image to remind you of our farm fresh products, a 1954 Chevy 3100.  You will see our farm truck at the berry patch, the farm markets we attend and parades.  We hope you enjoy the nostalgic feel the old truck brings to mind.  We are reminded of a slower, simpler time when friends and neighbors shared the bounty of a successful growing season.  So "Come Taste the Difference" at Mitchell’s Berries, and make your own memories down on the farm.  Just look for the old Chevy farm truck and enjoy!
